One text, one constraint, five days: one book.

Every editorial work is defined by specific boundaries, gathered from contents or forced by the context. It is the designer role to understand those boundaries, interpreting weaknesses and turning them into strengths.

Paolo Tassinari’s december workshop at SUPSI, with the students from the Bachelor in Visual communication, moved from the consideration that the designer role is to understand those boundaries, interpreting the weaknesses and turning them into strengths.

The task assigned starting from a given text – Unpacking my Library, the short essay by Walter Benjamin – was to come up with an independent editorial product exploiting the limits imposed by the content.
