Trieste: city of communities, city of diversity. Different typefaces play the many different characters in the logotype designed for the 300 years since the proclamation of the Free Port, a moment marking the beginnings of the modern city.
In the words of Pietro Kandler, the local historian, “The Istrian, the Jew, the Dalmatian, the Greek” coexist, laying the foundations of the upcoming wealth of the city. In the same way, different typefaces stand for different languages, melting into each other to enrich the communication.
