Sella (typeface)
Writing as a tool for retrieving history.
In writing – be it handwriting, or calligraphy, as well as mechanical writing, or typography – shape means identity: type writing is recognizable to the same amount as any handwriting, unique in its essential identity.
The rebranding of Gruppo Sella commissioned to Tassinari/Vetta unwinds through the design of a new typeface realized by A2-TYPE foundry in London. The cooperation with Henrik Kubel generated a typeface grounded in the core values of the Bank founded in 1886 by the heirs of Quintino Sella, a notable public person and Italian minister – a historical background, however, that did not prevent the group from pursuing innovation, and becoming a leading player in the digital market.

The base typeface of the corporate image and communication system is devised in 9 styles, including 3 stencils, and is completed by a crest interpreting its proper heraldic elements in a contemporary and usable graphic design.

La forma della scrittura – sia quella manuale, o calligrafia, sia quella meccanica o tipografia – è un elemento di riconoscibilità: e come ogni mano ha la sua scrittura e la sua identità, così anche la scrittura con i tipi ha la sua riconoscibilità.
Il rebranding del Gruppo Sella affidato a Tassinari/Vetta passa attraverso il disegno di un nuovo carattere realizzato dalla fonderia londinese A2-TYPE. Dalla collaborazione con Henrik Kubel nasce un carattere ispirato ai valori fondativi dello storico gruppo bancario fondato nel 1886 dagli eredi di Quintino Sella, uomo di governo e ministro dell’allora Regno d’Italia: una radice storica che non impedirà al gruppo di guardare all’innovazione diventando ai giorni nostri protagonista nel mondo digitale.

Il carattere alla base del sistema di identità e comunicazione è realizzato in 9 stili, compresi tre stencil, ed è integrato dallo stemma che, rispettando i canoni araldici, li interpreta in una grafica riproducibile e contemporanea.
